Ten Personal Qualities Commonly Associated with Success

Interpersonal Communication

Do you communicate well with all types of people?
Is it difficult for people to understand your points?
Do you feel relaxed and communicate well in a wide range of settings?

Assertiveness and Confidence

Are you an extrovert?
Do you feel confident?
Are you in control of your own destiny?

Expectations

Are you a realist?
Do you expect more from others than they have to give?

Patience

Are you patient with yourself and others?
Do you have the patience to plod through a task to obtain results, or are you always after quick solutions?

Tolerance for Ambiguity

Can you tolerate ambiguity and continue to strive for the facts, or do you tend to give up easily?
If people are being ambiguous, can you work with them to gather the facts?

Persistence

Do you give up easily or are you tenacious enough to keep going?
If you encounter a stumbling block, do you give up, or do you analyze the situation to determine its validity?
If others say, “Don’t do it,” do you always heed their advice?

Tolerance for Frustration

Do you become frustrated when others disagree with you and give up, or do you analyze the validity of their opinions and form your own opinion?
If things are not going as planned, do you change course?
Do you analyze frustrating situations, or do you allow your emotions to dictate your behavior?

Open-Mindedness

Do you allow others to feel comfortable about disagreeing with you?
Do you accept others for what they are and what they are capable of doing?
What kind of people do you dislike?

Ego Strength

Can you cope with criticism?
Are you confident without being egotistical?
Can you disagree politely with others?
Can you make unpopular decisions?
